This one analyzes a sound file and displays multiple peak values of the sound at the same time. Up to 8 sound files can be analyzed at once.
Summary
This program displays the power spectrum of the input sound (sound file) and simultaneously displays the multiple peak positions (frequency) and values (decibels) of the power spectrum. Most of the general frequency analysis programs (FFT analyzers) show only the power spectrum or only the power spectrum and its maximum peak value in numbers, so there were a lot of inconveniences in the study of string instruments, but the inconvenience will be completely eliminated in this program.
Every sound (or vibration) has its own unique peak, which acts as a factor that separates sound from sound, so it is very important to analyze these peaks accurately. Except for pure sine wave, everyone has multiple peaks, and this program will be very useful to check the multiple peaks at once.
Since the power spectrum has a very complex waveform, the number of peaks is also innumerable, so this program provides two options, Prominence and Height, as a filter to select which peaks to take and which to discard. Prominence means the degree to which the graph curve protrudes, and only peaks larger than the Prominence value are displayed. And Height only displays the value of the protruding vertex (decibel) greater than the value of Height.
In addition, since up to 8 sounds can be displayed overlaid on one graph at the same time, the peaks of multiple sounds can be compared.
To briefly explain the technical process, when there is a sound A,
Obtain the frequency waveform (FFT: Fast Fourier Transform) of A.
Only peaks with values greater than the Prominence value are extracted.
Among the peaks extracted above, only the peak with a value greater than the height value is re-extracted.
The corresponding peak value is displayed at the vertex of the peaks thus extracted.
They are calculated in this order. There are various filters, but mainly the above two filters are mostly applicable, so only the above two filters are provided in this program.
Below is an example of the result of analyzing 3 types of sound files.
Usage
This can be used when you want to check multiple peaks of a certain sound at the same time or when you want to compare the peaks of multiple sounds by displaying them in one graph. In the case of a violin, it can be used to compare the tap tones of Mode 1, 2, and 5 at the same time during the working process of the front and back plates.
Install
Since this program is a portable version, no installation work is required.
After unpacking, double-click the 'Peak_Finder_v.X.X.X.exe' file in the 'Peak_Finder_v.X.X.X' folder to run the program immediately. However, it may take a long time to run depending on the specifications of your computer.
