This program calculates the density of the material by inputting the weight and size of each part for the main material of the violin.
Summary
This program calculates the density of the material by inputting the weight and size of each part for the main material of the violin. In research on violins, it is quite often necessary to know the density of the material (front, back, neck, etc.). To know the density, you need to know the volume and weight. The weight is possible with a simple measurement, but the volume is a little difficult to measure because the violin materials are not standardized. For neck material, for example, you can find the volume by multiplying the area of the material cross-section by the length of the material. However, in most cases, the cross section is not square, not rectangular, or not rhombic. The area of a rectangle that does not have any of these rules can be found simply by using Heron's formula. If you do not use Heron's formula, you have to measure and calculate each side of the rectangle by dividing it several times, which is complicated and increases errors.
Heron's formula is expressed as Eq.(1) below when the lengths of the three sides of a triangle are a, b, and c, respectively, and the area of the triangle is K.
This program allows you to easily calculate the density of violin materials with a square, pentagonal or hexagonal cross section using Heron's formula and simple arithmetic.
Usage
You can calculate the density of the neck material, and the density of the front/back material before and after cutting the left and right plates, and after bonding the left and right plates.
Install
Since this program is a portable version, no installation work is required.
After unpacking, double-click the 《Density_Calculator_v.X.X.X.exe》 file in the 《Density_Calculator_v.X.X.X》 folder to run the program immediately. However, it may take a long time to run depending on the specifications of your computer.
